The Battle Creek's coffee plantation had been the first one to be discovered by Columbo Robusto during his several trips around the world. He first found the Ethiopian one when he traveled across the whole Africa ; from Algeria to Madagascar, in 1979...
... Legend has it that Mr. Robusto arrived in a tiny village in southern Ethiopia, and was welcomed by a mother with her child, who gave him one white flower each as a goodwill token. He then found where this flower come from, a coffee plantation !
Battle Creek's beans have quite a rough shell, that's why we pre-split them just before packing them. They are farmed, harvested, packed and sent in the most ecological way possible...
... And that's why they have the Ecocert label since 2001, and won the World Coffee Challenge of 2021. They're also produced in Peru, in similar conditions, in a coffee farm next to Cuzco.

Kontir variety grows in a wild, mountainous, forest region in Djimmah, southern Ethiopia. Kontir is known for its unique aroma, sweet taste and positive impact on environment and local communities, due to its crop growing made in small batches by local producers.
Going from light yellow to dark brown, the color of the bean can change due to roasting level and personal preferences. A darker coffee will have a stronger, smokier flavor and lower acidity and cafeine, whereas a lighter coffee will have a more delicate flavor and higher acidity and cafeine.
